It is extremely far and inconvenient from any major metro location. Once you get off the train, there is nothing- no cabs and it is located near a street-so you will see cars driving and few houses. If you get off from the north, you will find that you need to walk across the platform. There is a waiting area, and inside it has a bathroom The Bathroom wasn't 100% clean but was usable. It is a very quiet train station due to lack of people.
I would not recommend being at the train station at late nights. The Raritan train station, like most stations of the Raritan line, is merely a stop in the middle of nowhere. Though there is a little shelter to wait for the train, and now there is a distributor for the tickets, it is not the type of place you want to be on your own at night. Been there, done that, and believe me.
It is far from everything, no cabs, nobody at the station and if you are there on the last train, you will have to walk miles to find anything, or wait til morning for another train. Not a dream destination.
